These courses are designed to give attendees a general understanding of construction law and practices, cost control and labor compliance issues relevant to public works projects. This knowledge will allow attendees to successfully bid, control costs and perform on public works contracts and increase their success rate in preparing for future work.

  • How to prepare a take-off
  • Case study plan resources

  • Case Studies using actual bid specifications
  • Cost Control methods and worksheets for computing costs
  • How to prepare a winning bid

Attendees will understand how to:

  • Why wage rates and classifications are important
  • Prevailing Wage issues to be aware of
  • DIR/DOL investigative procedures

Topics covered include:

  • Properly Classifying your workforce
  • Definition of "Site of the Work"
  • Contractor labor compliance requirements/Contract specification
  • How to prepare an accurate Certified Payroll Record (CPR)
  • Calculating Fringe Benefits
  • Utilization of Apprentices
